What do I need to know?
My Jib Halyard Cover failed at the clutch last night. I am wondering if I can use the Spin Halyard Instead for an upcoming jib & main race Friday.
Anything I should know before doing this?
Any cord recommendations for replacing jib and main halyards?

Some answers I received:
- Using a spin halyard (installed in it's normal position) as a jib halyard should work, the swivel at the top would just spin 180 degrees towards the top of the mast.
- Replace your jib halyard with a spare spin halyard can work as a temporary solution.

Sail California strongly recommended taking all the load off the clutch with the winch before opening the jib and main halyards. Especially when boned-on.
And so I always do. Been on the same halyards for 13 years -- and they're more worn on the shackle ends than at the cleat.
