Starting to think about some fall cruising on the new boat. Noticed the anchor locker does not have any place to secure the "bitter end" or tie-off an anchor when it is on the roller.

How have you all dealt with this?

I'll have to actually look at exactly what we did when next on the boat, but I vaguely remember having something added to the sail locker when we had the boat commissioned for tying off the end of the anchor rode. Since it stays tied on there, it's not something that I've looked at recently! As for the anchor, we just run a piece of line through the stock of the anchor (our anchor has a handy hole there) and tie it to the stanchions--bowline on the side that stays tied, a couple of half-hitches on the other.

We have a blast cruising with our 109--get to blow past most of the other boats out there and beat them to the good anchoring spot

We'd had the commissioning yard install a moveable divider in the anchor locker, to keep rodes separated from each other and make sure that they are independently deployable. Then we drilled a hole through the divider and tied a figure 8 knot in the bitter end of each rode.

A short piece of 3/8 double braid, made fast to a bow cleat, passed through the eye of the anchor stock, and made snug and fast to the other bow cleat secures the anchor. Alternatively, the port side cleat can be used for both ends. Or the stock can be tied off to the bow pulpit.

We tie off the end around the sprit housing in the anchor locker and then of course when anchoring we cleat off the rode on the deck cleats. It has worked well for 2 seasons and have done A LOT of cruising here in Maine. Additionally, a little dry deck lining the locker is great too. We do not have a bow roller, and really, I don't even miss one!
