Man Overboard Pole Attachment

I have a double-handed regatta scheduled this summer that requires a man overboard pole be available. Has anyone mounted a man overboard pole on their J/109? If so, can you please describe what worked.
I'm thinking of attaching a tube on the backstay up a few feet as a holder for the stick & flag. The bottom might be able to fit in the mount for the flagstaff. I need to figure out if this would clear the hydraulic cylinder for the backstay.
